Queen Victoria Building
Sydney CBD
Spanning an entire block in Sydney's CBD, the Queen Victoria Building is one of the city's most recognisable retail addresses. Fitted with a custom Express Weave carpet by FYBER GROUP, QVB pairs heritage grandeur with a bespoke, large-scale commercial solution.
Designed by George McRae and completed in 1898, the Queen Victoria Building is a landmark of American Romanesque architecture, drawing more than 33 million visitors a year to its five levels of boutiques, dining and heritage detail. Its interior has been extensively refurbished to echo the grandeur of a grand Victorian arcade, from ornate stained glass to hand-cut mosaic tiles.
Installed across all carpeted areas of the centre, Fyber Group worked with Vicinity to develop a custom Express Weave carpet, engineered specifically for QVB rather than drawn from an existing range.
Part of the Fyber Group Bespoke collection, Express Weave gives designers full control over pattern and colourway, without compromising the durability, consistency and quality that large-scale commercial application demands. It's custom, not off-the-shelf, even at scale.
With more than 33 million visitors passing through QVB each year, the carpet was engineered to hold its pattern and finish under sustained heavy foot traffic, ensuring the custom design looks as considered on its busiest day as it does on its first.
